Hormonal Component to a Holistic Wellness Alcohol Program

As a holistic wellness alcohol program in Sonoma County, our clinic looks at the hormonal component of cravings or addiction to alcohol. Many factors influence our hormonal system and the biochemistry of cravings.

Dr. Cindy Zafis, DC, DACACD has worked with chiropractic functional techniques for 20 years with a focus in detailed testing of the hormonal, biochemical, and neurological components of health and addiction. Natural supplement formulas may resolve metabolic issues without resorting to pharmaceutical medications or having to experience the side effects of pharmaceutical drugs.

Case Study

A female patient in her 30s came to the clinic after receiving a DUI. She wanted to work with a holistic alcohol program with a non-pharmaceutical approach to recovery.

Her primary concern involved binge drinking she felt was out of control and mood swings. The clinic utilized a program of auriculotherapy and amino acid therapy, as well as addressing her specific hormonal issues. As other health issues were also addressed, she became significantly calmer and her moods more stable.

She was surprised at the level of calmness she felt in her body. Like many patients in the clinic, she was able to manage her day-to-day stress much better after resolving hormonal and metabolic issues in her system.

Men may have hormonal imbalances as well. A young man came to the clinic to resolve his alcohol and long-standing marijuana addiction.  He used alcohol and marijuana to help him calm down, especially at night. After 17 years of heavy use of marijuana 4 to 6 times a day and 3 years of moderate use of alcohol, he wanted to stop both addictions at the same time.

Dr. Zafis, DC, DACACD worked with resolving specific hormonal and nervous system imbalances with him. Within the first week of the program, he was able to sleep without the use of marijuana or alcohol. This is a significant result considering he used marijuana for the last 17 years to calm down and get to sleep.

Dr. Zafis, DC, DACACD comes from the perspective of working with chronic complex health issues and also addictions. Our increasingly challenging environment is making the business of good health and recovery more complex. Working with the hormonal system is no longer a luxury but a necessity for patients to have a comfortable and successful transition to a healthier lifestyle. There is no replacement for feeling great.
