4 Reasons for Stomach Issues

4 Reasons for Stomach Issues

There are many reasons for stomach issues, and we are going to go over four of them.

1. Increase stress, anxiety, or being in a fight or flight mode

It has long been known that anxiety and stomach problems go hand and hand. Stress can increase stomach acid. When this happens long term – the stomach acid can cause an ulcer in the digestive system.

2. Sensitivity to stomach acid or acidic foods

We see this in the office quite a lot since we assess for food reactions. Whenever there are stomach problems, we check for a reaction to stomach acid or acidic foods. When people do have stomach issues, and we clear the body of the reaction, some patients do get relief from addressing this.

Some patients will get a 50% relief from clearing a reaction from stomach acid and acidic foods, and others may get 30%. Everyone is different, but testing for stomach acid reactions is always essential with stomach symptoms.

3. Long-term stress

In some cases, when there is long-term stress, the body does not rebuild the inside of the stomach lining. Many people are in a fight or flight mode and not in the parasympathetic healing mode. When this happens, the body does not go into repair the stomach lining as it should. This is extremely common and is why stomach acid reducers are a very popular medication in America.

This situation can cause a burning in the stomach. Therefore, we test for this issue, and 2 nutritional formulas may be appropriate for the patient.

4. Spicy Foods

Spicy foods can be hard on the stomach and intestinal system. If people crave hot, spicy foods, we usually check them for capsaicin or endorphin sensitivity. Unfortunately, many people crave foods that they are sensitive to.
